The Bahamas is an archipelagic country, or a collection of small islands, located off the coast of Florida and inside the Bermuda Triangle. The country is known for offering pig swim experience, where you can swim with pigs in crystal clear ocean waters and pink sand beaches, the locals call it Briland.

Flights

Flight costs can range from USD $180 to USD $250 depending the dates and any stops. Save more money by booking your flight 3 to 6 months in advance during the low season. Most people are familiar with the typical beachfront hotels that offer rooms for around BSD $200 per night. But what if you want to get away from everyone else? There’s so much to do in the Bahamas! For activities or entertainment you can expect around BS$30. Some popular choices include scuba diving, cave exploring (for those who enjoy some tight spaces), snorkeling with beautiful fish that live near coral reefs. There is also plenty of luxury good shopping at places like which has all different types shops catering specifically towards travelers looking forward to splurging on jewelry that could last a lifetime. And let’s not forget about Dean’s Blue Hole-the world’s second deepest blue hole with an incredible drop right off the shore. If you’re not into snorkeling you can also rent a jet ski or kayak.

Transportation

The average cost per day to get around in taxis is about BS$30, but the price can be cheaper if you ride public transportation instead of taxis. A water taxi can cost about BS$8. Traveling frequently between the Bahamian islands can add up quickly so make sure to bring up to BS$300 to be safe and avoid any surprises.

Food Costs

On average food costs can be BS$45 a day. Most of the Bahamian food that you will discover is seafood based dishes and fruit based desserts. If you are looking do some drinking on your trip make sure to try the classic Bahamian cocktail, Goombay Smash. The Goombay Smash cocktail consists of pineapple juice, rum, coconut rum, lime juice, and orange liquor. Alcoholic drinks can be a bit pricey at about BS$21 per day on average, which is about 2 to 3 drinks or one mega drink. Most cocktails in the Bahamas have fruity flavors with rum liquor, which explains why the Goombay Smash is a classic cocktail to represent.

It is customary to tip service workers or tour guides about 5% to 15%.
